Biography

Bruce Whiteman has degrees in English literature and Library Science, and after stints at McMaster University (1979-88) and McGill University (1988-96), he has been the Head Librarian at the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, UCLA, since 1996. His earlier work was in the lyrical vein, but since 1982 he has been working on a long poem entitled The Invisible World Is in Decline. The complete text to date, in six books, will be published by ECW Press in the fall of 2006. He has published books on Quebec printing, Raymond Souster, John Sutherland, and J.E.H. Macdonald, and he has also edited two collections of poetry by Ralph Gustafson. His selected poems, Visible Stars, appeared in 1995.
