Biography

Dorothy Turcotte worked as a copy writer in radio before becoming a freelance writer selling many articles on children, travel and history; and writing weekly columns for local newspapers. She has served her community as a hard-working volunteer which earned her the Air Canada and Canadian Community Newspaper Association Heart of Gold Award in 1988. She was Chair of Grimsby LACAC, and is presently chairman of Grimsby Public Library Board. Dorothy is a member and Past-President of Media Club of Canada (formerly Canadian Women's Press Club). Her published works include Greetings from Grimsby Park - The Chautauqua of Canada; Port Dalhousie - Shoes & Ships & Sealing Wax; The Sand Strip - Burlington/Hamilton Beaches; Burlington - Memories of Pioneer Days; Burlington - The Growing Years; Remember the Brant Inn; and Places and People on Bronte Creek.
