Tortora, Alvaro
Biography
Alvaro Tortora – was born in Italy in 1950. He immigrated to Canada in 1968 and has lived and worked in Hamilton ever since. He has been a member of the Hamilton Poetry Centre for the past 19 years. In 1995, he won “best reader” in the first annual edition of North American Competition of Italian Poetry “L’anima del Poeta” and his entry poem received an honorable mention. His book of poetry, Paradise Marshes was published in 2004. He shares his love of poetry with his daughter Kristine who also writes poetry. He is currently working on several new projects.
