Strecker, James
Biography
James Strecker is the author or editor of over twenty books. His poetry has been published in dozens of literary journals, featured on two CD-ROMs, set to music
by classical composers, and featured with his sculpture on the National Library of Canada web site. He has received several international commissions, served as
Poet-in-Residence on CBC national radio, held several writer-in-residence positions, and given over 100 international poetry readings including two Canada
Council reading tours. In 1989 he co-founded Mini Mocho Press and in 1992 was awarded the City of Hamilton Arts Award. For thirty years he has worked as a freelance journalist and photographer for major Canadian newspapers and, as a
professor at Sheridan College, has taught courses on writing, creativity, communications, and journalism. He holds an M.A. in Drama from the University of Toronto and also is a human development professional who is trained and certified as an Intensive Journal Consultant, a Graphoanalyst, and a Focusing Trainer.
