Biography
Michele Sponagle is journalist, author and editor with over 20 years in journalism. The Hamilton native attended Mohawk College, before moving to Toronto. She began her career at Maclean’s magazine in 1987, then joined the editorial team at Flare magazine. She turned to freelancing writing in 1989 and has since worked with Canada’s best known publications, including Flare, the Toronto Star, Chatelaine, Reader's Digest, enRoute, etc. She is an active member of the Periodical Writers Association of Canada, Travel Media Association of Canada, and Society of American Travel Writers. Her first book, Tales From Dog River: The Complete Corner Gas Guide, was published in 2006 by Penguin Canada. It debuted in second spot among new titles, and was a number-one bestseller for six consecutive weeks. Her follow-up book, Dog River Confidential: The Super, Even More Complete Corner Gas Guide, was published in November 2009.
