Biography

Rebecca Rosenblum holds a BA Hon in English from McGill University and an MA in English and Creative Writing from the University of Toronto. 
Her first short story was published in 2006 and her first collection in 2008. Her fiction has been called "at once compressed, poetic, and precise" (The Walrus, October 2008). Her work has been short-listed for the Journey Prize, the National Magazine Award, and the Danuta Gleed Award; and longlisted for the Relit Award. Her stories have been published (or will be soon) in Best Canadian Stories, The Fiddlehead, The New Quarterly, Earlit Shorts, Coming Attractions 08, The Journey Prize Stories 19, The Milan Review, and The Antigonish Review, among others. In 2009, Rebecca was the writer-in-residence at Michael Power High School in Toronto, and taught story-writing to 90+ grade 10s and 11s. Also in 2009, Rebecca was honoured to be a juror for the Journey Prize 21. Her book of short stories is called Once. It won the Metcalf-Rooke Award and was one of Quill and Quire's 15 Books That Matter in 2008.

 

Rebecca is currently living, working, and writing more short stories in Toronto.
