Lisson, Paul
Biography
Paul Lisson was born in Hamilton and has been writing all his life. His prose and poetry have been published in the Beloit Poetry Journal, Descant, Carousel, and Ta Panta. He has been a contributor to id magazine, Broadway Magazine, Hamilton Magazine, Random Scan and many other publications.Paul is also the founder of Red October, an independent arts initiative to raise awareness and funds to fight AIDS. He is also the reader/facilitator for two Red October events, Beat Red and Road Rhymes.
He currently edits the online magazine Hamilton Arts & Letters. He recently did readings of his poetry at the Charles Bridge and Tulip Café, both in Prague, Czech Republic, and at the Hungarian Writers’ Association in Budapest. He is also an active artist with numerous exhibitions and artist talks to his credit.
Awards/Recognitions
He was awarded the Rand Memorial Prize for writing from McMaster University, the City of Hamilton Arts Award for Visual Arts & Literature, and an International Merit Award for Poetry from the Atlanta Review. He has also received an honourable mention from Prism International magazine.
