Leslie, Mark
Biography
Born in Sudbury in 1969, Mark Leslie Lefebvre grew up in Levack, Ontario before attending Carleton University, where he received an Honours B.A. in English Language and Literature in 1992. Mark spent much of his free time writing stories, having his first short story published under his pseudonym "Mark Leslie" the same year he graduated. He also began a career as a bookseller at Coles in Ottawa shortly after graduating. That job led him to Hamilton in 1996 when he worked at the Chapters in Ancaster. Despite moving around in his role as a bookseller, Mark has lived in Hamilton ever since, and returned working here in 2006 at Titles Bookstore, McMaster University, where he has been active in the industry, on the board of directors for BookNet Canada and Canadian Booksellers Association. In 2004 Mark published One Hand Screaming, a collection of his previously published short fiction, and in 2006 he edited the science fiction anthology North of Infinity II. Mark continues to be published in various magazines and anthologies (such as Stardust, edited by Julie E. Czerneda, Bound for Evil, edited by Tom English, Bluffs, edited by Laurence Steven and Northern Haunts, edited by Tim Deal) and is working on various new book length projects.
