Jill Rumble came to Hamilton from Australia in 1973 on a one-year placement for the YWCA. She never left, deciding to make Canada her permanent home and the YWCA a focus of much of her life. She worked at the YWCA on Ottawa Street and MacNab Street as Branch Manager and in a variety of other positions. She served as Chief Executive Officer of YWCA Hamilton from 1992 to 2003, and in 2003, Jill celebrated her 30th anniversary with YWCA Hamilton. As the CEO of the YWCA Hamilton, she was part of many community, local, and national committees and events. Her focus was always on providing programs and services for women and their families that make a positive difference in their lives. Jill was recognized for her contributions with many awards, including the Athena Award in 2003. Jill passed away May 5, 2004 after a lengthy battle with ALS (Lou Gerig’s Disease).
