Dr. Sam Mitminger

Dr. Sam Mitminger
In addition to his contributions to Mohawk college, Sam Mitminger has served the Hamilton community through his work as Chairman of the Committee of Presidents of Colleges of Applied Arts, as a member of the Health council of Hamilton-Wentworth, the Rotary Club of Hamilton, the Dundas Valley School of Art, a member of the Board of Amity, and in 1976 was elected for a term as president of the Hamilton Multicultural Centre.

Born in Warsaw, Poland, Sam Mitminger completed his post-secondary school studies in textile technology at Manchester University, England, and received his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Toronto.

After serving in both the Polish army and air force, Dr. Mitminger retired in 1981. During his presidency, Mohawk College developed into one of the foremost community colleges in Canada. Also, during his tenure as President of Mohawk, Dr. Mitminger received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws Degree from McMaster University.
