Denburg, Judah A.
Biography
Judah Denburg was born and grew up in Montreal, Quebec. He received his primary and secondary education at the United Talmud Torah and Herzliah High School, where he was exposed to both English and Hebrew literature. He then attended Yeshiva University in New York City, from which he graduated magna cum laude in 1966 with a B. A. as well as Hebrew teacher's diploma (B. H. L.) He went on to pursue medical studies, first at McGill Medical School in Montreal, then at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where he received his M. D. degree in 1972. He is now on staff at the McMaster University Medical Centre where he is Director and Chief of Service of Clinical Immunology and Allergy and has been a professor in Medicine since 1988. He is author of approximately 200 peer - reviewed scientific journal articles. He is a member of the executive of the Hamilton Poetry Centre.
Fluent in Hebrew and knowledgeable of the old testament and a rich array of rabbinic sources, Judah Denburg has been writing for almost three decades, and has published his poetry in several literary journals and publications. A rich heritage of Hebrew language, Jewish thought, law, music and literature has surrounded him from birth, endowed by his parents - his late father, a prominent rabbi, linguist, teacher and scholar; and his mother, steeped in the traditions of Jewish music.
