De Bolster, Henry R.
Biography
Born in Rotterdam, Henry R. De Bolster survived bombardments during World War II and joined the local underground resistance cell. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 taking a clerical job at Stelco. He received his ordination from the Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapis, Michigan, and served as a Christian Reformed minister in Brampton, Calgary, and St. Catharines. He was a founder of The King's University College in Edmonton, and in the early 1980's started a committee to evaluate the feasibility of a Scripturally-directed post-secondary institution in Ontario. When Redeemer Cllege opened in 1981, Rev. De Bolster was its first president, which he remained until 1994. He is a past president of the the Council of Christian Reformed Churches of Canada, Alberta Christian College Association, and the Ontario Christian College Association. He has also been a member of the Advisory Council of Christian Schools International.
