Dawson, David
Biography
David Laing Dawson was born in Victoria, British Columbia and received his education there and in Cambridge, England. He has been Director of Community Psychiatric Services at St. Joseph's Hospital, and from 1982 to 1987 travelled throughout northern Ontario consulting on Mental Health Services. Before retirement his last positions included Associate Professor of Psychiatry at McMaster University and Psychiatrist in Chief at Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital. In addition to his demanding professional work, he is an accomplished writer with four mystery novels published between 1990 and 1996, and an artist graduating from the Dundas Valley School of Art. He has had several exhibitions of his work in local galleries. He currently operates The Gallery on the Bay in Hamilton, Ontario and has been active in the local arts and literary scene for several years.
