Colin Millar's 35 years in law enforcement have spanned a variety of roles, including officer, instructor, and chief. In the early 1970s the now-retired Chief of Police of the Hamilton Police Service was an instructor in criminal law at the Ontario Police College. He was later seconded to the Ontario Police Commission to assess police training programs. His unique approaches to police training soon became widely accepted by police departments throughout North America, Europe and Britain. Colin was the first Canadian to be chapter president of the FBI Academy Graduates Association. He has served on a number of committees within the Hamilton community and he was the recipient of the Hamilton Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award in 1994.
