Ensuring the City of Hamilton has a solid foundation is Bill Filer's specialty. The Hamilton engineer works professionally in steel, concrete and timber, and he's had a hand in designing and building many of Hamilton's architectural mainstays, including the McMaster Nuclear Reactor, the Hamilton YMCA, and Hamilton Place. Born in 1926, Bill was the son of an Anglican Minister. His lifetime dedication to his community and his work has given him a number of professional affiliations and honours. Among them, Bill has been awarded a Doctor of Sacred Letters from Toronto's Wycliffe College, and he is the 'Chief Warden' of Camp 13 at McMaster University, where he surpervises the traditional Iron Ring Ceremony for 450 graduating engineers each year.
