Gallery on 4
Opened as an 'alternative gallery space' to be offered free of charge to local professional and non-professional artists, the exhibition space at Central Library has long been a venue for Hamilton and area artists. It is located on the 4th floor and has been in continuous operation since 1984 making it the second oldest gallery in the James North district (preceded by the Hamilton Artists Inc.). We are proud neighbours to Bikehounds, Blue Angel, DAC, Hamilton Artists Inc., History and Heritage, James North Studio, Jenna Rose, Loose Cannon Gallery, Melanie Gillis, Mixed Media, SkyDragon, The Factory, The Printstudio, White Elephant, Woodpecker Handicraft Gallery, and You Me Gallery.
The purpose and function of the Gallery on 4 continues to be that of a space which provides a program of small-scale, monthly exhibitions by emerging local artists. The gallery also gives mid-career artists the opportunity to develop new ideas in a public setting.
