The Hamilton Association for the Advancement of Literature, Science and Art is one of Canada's oldest independent, not-for-profit, cultural organizations. It has its origins in the Hamilton Scientific Association, founded in 1857, and counts among its founding members Dr. John Rae, Arctic explorer and physician, who served as the Association's first Vice-President and second President.

Hamilton Writers is a resource for literary individuals in the Hamilton, ON area: writers, poets, journalists, editors, publishers, essayists, and all others involved in the literary arts (any and all genres) are encouraged to participate.

 

 

LitChat is the literary salon for those interested in getting together once a month from Sept to June on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Bread & Roses Cafe in the Sky Dragon Centre on King William Street. There is a different host and theme each month. LitChat is supported by the the Hamilton Public Library and Arts Hamilton.

 

 

Tower Poetry Society, founded in 1951, is one of North America's oldest poetry collectives. Monthly meetings at the Westdale Hamilton Public Library feature poetry workshops where poets present their work to receive peer comment.
