The Hamilton Public Library offers storytime programs for children from birth to 5 years of age that combine stories, songs, fingerplays and action rhymes all designed to promote reading readiness. Storytime provides an environment for discovering the pleasures of reading and learning and help many children with the development of their socialization skills as it is often their first group experience outside of the home. It is also a great opportunity for parents to meet other parents!

 

Spring 2012 Storytimes

Registration begins in person on Tuesday March 27, 2012, and by phone on Wednesday March 28, 2012.

Programs begin the week of April 2,  2012.

Programs end the week of May 21, 2012.

Baby Time is for children from birth to 23 months and includes songs, movement, simple picture books, puppets, music and knee jogging or tickling rhymes. Baby Storytime introduces parents and caregivers to fingerplays, stories and rhymes that can be shared at home. This weekly program is approximately 20 to 30 minutes in length and is shared by an adult and baby.

 

Toddler Time is for 2 to 3 year olds and combines stories, concept books, songs, fingerplays and nursery rhymes. Toddler Time is designed to introduce toddlers and their parents/caregivers to book-related activities that can be continued at home. Toddler Time is a weekly program of approximately 30 minutes in length and is shared by adults and toddlers.

 

Preschool Storytime combines picture books, concept books, fingerplays as well as action rhymes and provides an environment for discovering the pleasures of reading and learning. This is a weekly program of approximately 30 to 45 minutes in length.

 

Family Storytime is for children from birth to 5 years of age and combines stories, songs, fingerplays, flannel stories and action rhymes. These sessions are designed to promote families reading together and provides an opportunity for families to share early learning experiences. This is a weekly program that runs between 30 and 45 minutes with families participating together.
