About the Library:
Library Cards
Library cards are free to anyone living, working or studying in Hamilton.
- Children 13 years of age and under, require the signature of a parent or guardian to get a library card.
- Adults require two pieces of identification, showing your name and current address. Parents are responsible for their child's use of all library resources.
Your library card will enable you to borrow materials from the 1.2 million books, DVDs, Music CDs and other formats owned by the Hamilton Public Library.
Your library card can be used at all branches of the Hamilton Public Library system. You can use your library card to access on-line information resources including eBooks and eAudiobooks. You will be asked for your card number when using these services.
Apply online for a library card
When you get a library card, you are agreeing to:
- Care for all of the materials you borrow.
- Pay outstanding fines or fees.
- Pay for all lost or damaged materials.
- Tell us if your card is lost or stolen.
- Tell us if your name, address, or phone number changes.
- Confirm your address and phone number annually.
- Use only your own card to borrow materials.
- Use your child's card only for materials for their use.
