Contemporary Hamilton Authors Inclusion Guidelines

Authors of all writing genres are eligible

Inclusion in Contemporary Hamilton Authors will be considered if the author fulfills the following requirements:

  • They were born in the Hamilton area, OR they were born elsewhere but wrote and published works while living in the Hamilton area. “Hamilton area” is defined herein as within the service area of all branches of the Hamilton Public Library. Authors who are visiting the Hamilton area or reside here temporarily are not eligible for inclusion.
  • Their works are book length and were published after 1980.
  • Authors who are designated as writer-in-residence at a Hamilton school or institution are not eligible for inclusion unless they publish at least one book-length work during the period of their residency.
  • A work is considered published only if it has been produced as a paper monograph. Authors whose works have only been published digitally are not eligible for inclusion.

 

The Hamilton Public Library retains the right to make exceptions to any of the above guidelines.
