Bookmobile Driver
Bookmobiles are libraries on wheels. This service brings library materials to neighbourhoods distant from branch libraries as well as to senior citizen complexes within city limits.
The Bookmobile Driver is responsible for driving the Bookmobile within the city to various service points and is also responsible for overseeing vehicle maintenance and repairs. The Bookmobile Driver provides circulation services to library customers at all service points and performs clerical duties associated with the operation of the Bookmobile Services.
Requirements
Some of the requirements to be a Bookmobile Driver are:
- Valid Ontario DZ licence, city driving experience and a clean driver’s abstract.
- Library Techniques Diploma or a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Knowledge of current literature and reading trends.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Good working knowledge and experience with computer applications.
- Physical stamina required to perform tasks involving the lifting (up to 60 lbs) and movement of large numbers of books and other library materials and equipment.
